ADULT CARER SUPPORT – If someone, who is unpaid, is looking after another person who could not manage without their help, then they are a carer.

The Bassetlaw Carer Support Worker provides telephone and outreach support and information on all aspects of caring for carers over the age of 18, including emotional support, benefits, aids & equipment accessing home care and community services and taking a break. Direct referrals to Carers Federation counseling and caravan services and signposting to local, national, and community services, to meet carers’ needs.

The Bassetlaw Community Car Scheme provides a community transport service serving the residents of Bassetlaw who are unable to access public transport. The scheme uses volunteer drivers who drive their own cars. A charge is made for journeys and clients must be registered to the scheme in order to travel. Registration is currently free. Once registered clients should give at least 3 or 4 days notice of a required journey.

The mission of the the Gut Trust is to inform, support and educate those with IBS and their families and carers; to improve the quality of life for those with IBS and to raise public awareness of IBS and the issues surrounding this condition.

The Gut Trust is a self-help organization for people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The trust produce a quarterly magazine, Gut Reaction, covering a wide variety of topics relating to IBS. Fact sheets also available. Members receive a membership card, have the opportunity to participate in research, join a media list and reviewing scheme. The Network operates Befriender and Pen-friend schemes and co-ordinates local self- help groups.
